Tēnā Koutou, Talofa Lava, Malo e Lelei, Namaste, Ni sa bula, Noaia’e mauri, Fakalofa lahi atu, Kia Orana, Ni Hao, An Nyung Ha Sai Yo, Nay Ho, Hej, Hallo, Sawat Dee, Cześć, Goeie Dag, សួស្តី, Здравствуйте, hola, 안녕하세요Greetings to our school families.

Term 4 here we come! As always, Term 4 has lots on – please make sure you keep track of both the key dates and the week by week below, so you know what’s coming up.

Our new classroom block (Kōwhai) is on it’s way, and work on the new pump track starts shortly as well. This will be a great resource for both our school and community – our school field is very wet for much of the year, and this will give the kids more space to be active. When McConnell Dowell vacate the land next to the school, we plan to allow our Senior Students to play over there and spread out a wee bit more. In the meantime, we are trying to use the land we have, as well as we can.

Keep an eye out for our Book Fair in Week 4 – always some good buys for Christmas gifts, and a huge benefit to the school as well.

Nga mihi,

Kathryn Ramel

Principal

SBS 2025 Class Considerations

Today you will receive an email linking to a form where you can provide feedback for class placements 2025. This form is an opportunity for parents to provide information for consideration as class lists are formed. We will not be able to cater for every request, but will do our best. We do not yet know exactly which teachers will be teaching in which class next year, however most teachers will stay in the teams they are currently in. For parents new to SBS – we do not announce class placements until the week before school next year. With our rapidly growing roll, we have often had to “reshuffle’ classes as numbers change – we simply won’t risk telling kids they will be having a teacher, and then have that change.

Hi’s and Bye’s

At the end of this year Pauline McDonald will be leaving us to join the exciting world of retirement – the start of many adventures we are sure. Mel Fergusson will also be leaving us to spend more time with her family – but you will still find her down at the Mahurangi East Tennis Club for a catch up.

In 2025, Mr Port will step out of the classroom and into a fully released Associate Principal position. Along with Trent Morley, they will share the SENCO (Special Education Needs Coordinator) role, work with support and extension groups of students, and take responsibility for half the school each – Mr Morley Years 0 – 3 and Mr Port years 4 – 6.

We are delighted to welcome Sam Sutherland, who many of you will already know from Kelly Club. Sam will be joining our Middle School, most likely in Year 4.

Stacey Marfleet helped us out in Nikau 2 in Term 1. We realised quickly what a great teacher she is, and what a good fit she is for our school. Talofa Stacey, and welcome to the Senior School in 2025.
