Manawa 1 and Ms McDonald traveled down to Snells Beach recently, to test if their boat designs actually floated. With reasonable success, who knows? Maybe some future America’s Cup, or super yacht designers may have started their future careers right here, in Snells Beach.
“Yesterday Manawa 1 went to the beach. It was long walk and my leg was sore. When we were there we built a sandcastle, Liana and Seila and Anthony and me. It was a little bit big to me. Liana built the tunnel and the bridge and I got the shells. Ms McDonald asked who wants to sail their boat. Everyone put their hands up and Ms Mc Donald chose some people. We kept building the sand castle but we didn’t finish it before we had to walk back to Snells Beach School.”

“Yesterday we sailed our boats. I spent ages making it and it was a waste . It hardly floated. It sunk like five times. Maybe it was the wind. Anyways it went into the trash because it ripped like a person tore it apart.”

“Yesterday Manawa 1 went to the beach. We went to the beach because we were having a boat race. We left after the lunch bell and we started walking along the path. When we were walking we had to cross roads and my leg felt tired. When we were at the beach we build a sandcastle with Liana and Anthony, we were making a great volcano, river castle. Then our teacher called people’s names to sail their boat. She called my name then I went to get my boat. Our teacher had rice in her hands for our boats to carry. We tested our boats for 30 seconds. My boat sank then it floated. Then all of us had a race. Jonathan came first and he got the NZ cup. Then we went back to school.”
