Tena Kotou Katoa, Talofa, Mauri, Greetings to our school families.
This term seems to have flown by – it was a little scary that our School Diary below included the “Last day for Term 2” already! Among the Zone Days, Planting Days and Camps over the past few weeks, the teachers have been busily writing reports, as part of our “Reporting to Parents” process.
Reporting to Parents
- Mon 13 June. Parent Interviews Booking Sheets and Information go home.
- Friday 17 June. Written Reports and Interview Time Confirmation slips home.
- Thurs 23.6. Parent Interviews 2:30 – 8:00pm in classes. (Please note: After School Care will run in the Library this day only)
Your interview time confirmation will come in the envelope with your reports. Please check your time carefully and be prompt – the flow on effect from one late interview is significant. Please feel free to pop inside the “Shared Space” in your child’s block while you wait, in the event it is raining.
Carpark Safety
We are currently locking the Staff Carpark around drop-off and pick-up times, purely to keep our children safe. We don’t mean to cause offence, but it is unsafe for cars to be driving directly across the pathway where most of our students exit the school, and safety is the reason that area was designated the Staff Parking Area.
Please follow us on Facebook for news, reminders and updates. Look for the school logo to find our page, and not the generic one.
Aku mihi nui ki a koe, many thanks,
Kathryn Ramel
Principal

Important Health Notice
We have confirmed cases of Chicken Pox in the school. If your child is unwell, and spots do appear, please take them to the doctors to be checked. Strep throat continues to be a problem as well.
Year 6 Camp Tongariro
Once again our Year 6’s blew us away at Camp Tongariro. Their ability to push past their fears and make it up those high ropes, through those caves and onto that white water raft, is something that will stand them in good stead as they face future challenges in their lives. A massive thank you to Denise Le Bas, Cheech Mahue and Paul Chapman for their willingness to “jump in”, support, laugh, and sometimes just “grin and bear it”. We would like to welcome everybody to our Special Camp Assembly on Wednesday 29 June, 11:30 – 12:30 in the hall.
Planting Days
We were blessed with the weather this week as we headed off to our annual planting days. Our Year 4 students and Mrs Bish worked hard, planting over a thousand plants at the Solways Deer Farm. Shelley, the owner, actually took the time to write a personal message to Mrs Mackay (our Trees for Survival Co-Ordinator), commenting on the outstanding effort by our “fantastic and delightful” students.
Our Year 5 and 6 students continued their planting at Scandretts Regional Park supported by DOC. Scandretts is a special place for our school: we celebrate our end of year picnic there, Don Scandrett was Chairperson of our BOT, and Xanthe attended as a student, and we have never missed a planting day! The year by year growth is impressive to see, and our earliest planting is now fully fledged bush!
Year 5 & 6 Netball Zone Day
Our Year 5 & 6 mixed Zone Day Netball Teams performed brilliantly at the tournament in Wellsford this week. Each team scored plenty of wins, laughed lots and enjoyed themselves. It was good to see our Saturday netballers standing up as leaders, and so many boys prepared to “have-a-go”. Mrs Gore really appreciated the support of the large group of parents who travelled up to support.
PTA School Disco
Time to dust off your dance moves and rock up to the PTA school disco on Friday 1 July 6:30pm – 8:00pm. Tickets $2 each, or $5 per family. Featuring Mr Morley’s twin brother, the internationally famous DJ Triple M! All Year 1-2 students need to be accompanied by a caregiver over the age of 18 (pre schoolers attending with supervising parents are welcome). All children will need to be dropped off & picked up from the hall. No students from other schools will be admitted, sorry.
Walking School Bus at Snells Beach Primary
A walking school bus is a group of children who walk together to/from school with parent supervisors along a set route. Parents take turns and shouldn’t need to walk more than one day a week. The other 4 days are free.
The children have fun, socialise with other kids and arrive at school on time. It’s also a healthy way to get to school and reduces congestion at the school gate.
If you are interested in finding out more about Walking School Buses, please come along to the staffroom next Wednesday 22 June at 9:00am. Morning tea will be provided.
After School Art Classes with Tracey Paddison on Tuesdays
Tuesdays 3:15pm – 4:45pm in the school hall. Afternoon tea and all art materials are included. $15 per session or two siblings $25.
Your child will have fun after school on Tuesdays creating some amazing art work using different media and learning some new techniques.
