Tena Kotou Katoa, Talofa, Mauri, Greetings to our school families.
Hello everyone! Hard to believe that we are half way through the longest term of the year. Only four more weeks left and they will go very quickly. We have the Easter break next week as well- roll on the chocolate overload. We still have a lot of exciting activities on, and next week is especially busy with Have a Go Sailing and Paddle boarding for our senior students. The weather has been very kind so let’s hope it stays that way until the end of the term. A HUGE thanks to you all for your attendance and support for Travel Wise week, especially the Walkathon on Thursday. It was a fun filled time for the students as well as being a great learning opportunity. Thanks also to the PTA and Barfoot & Thompson for their support with this event. Please look at the timetable for the rest of the year to keep up with what is going on.
I am delighted to tell you that we have a lovely group of mums and aunties who have volunteered to assist with our Parent Pals Reading Programme. This is happening in the first 15 minutes of school, and is designed to give a gentle boost to our junior students to lift their self-confidence and reading skills. I appreciate the support from the families and the community towards our students’ learning and achievement. If there is any way that you would like to assist in school please feel free to approach your child’s class teacher, or pop in to have a chat with me.
I would like to thank Angela Brangwynne who is researching quotes for getting tinting for our windows. This will enable the students and teachers to use the digital projectors more effectively in the hall, and in the classrooms. We love the sun, but sometimes it’s just too bright! Thanks also to Jade Bennett who assisted Miss Jolliffe with the Library stocktake. This is a massive job and we couldn’t have done it without you.
Lastly thanks to the lovely people who have popped in to talk to me, or emailed me about how the school is going and also passed on kind messages. Your support and positive affirmations of my time as Acting Principal is much appreciated. The school has a fantastic tone and warmth and everyone seems happy, and the students are happy and learning, so all is right in the Snells Beach School world at the moment.

Swimming Sports
On Tuesday 1 March 31 excited Snells Beach School students travelled to compete in the 2016 Inter-school Swimming Competition. Once again we performed really well and got some great results. I am extremely proud of our students not only for their well-earned results, but also for their high levels of sportsmanship, and their beautiful manners and behaviour displayed on the day. A huge shout of thanks to all the parents who helped transport them on the day, and also to those who stayed to supervise. We really appreciated it.

Uniform Jackets
We have added a new jacket to our uniform range. The jackets will retail for $35, and will NOT be embroidered with any school logos, which will hopefully allow them to be worn more out of school and for other activities. They are nylon outer, and polar fleece lined, include a hood in the collar and reflector strip across the back. We need 7 more orders to be able to purchase these. Please let us know if you are wanting one for your child/children. See Miss Henry in the office.
