The staff, Miss Ramel and I are looking forward to a positive and happy year, full of exciting learning opportunities and achievements for your children.  The atmosphere and learning environments at Snells Beach School are ones of happiness, peace and positivity. I believe this can be directly attributed to our Living Values which we all, staff included, live and work by. I am very proud of the students and staff here, as this is a place where everyone can stand firm and lift their heads high with a sense of belonging. I also look forward to the continued support from our parents through the year. Please feel free to approach your child’s teacher if you are interested in helping in the classroom at all. I am sure they would appreciate it. Many thanks for what you have done in the past and hopefully will continue to do this year. Our Friday newsletters come out every fortnight and contain lots of information, so please look out for them either by email, hard copy or on our website.

Board of Trustees Elections

BOT elections will be held on the 11 May 2016. If you are interested in joining the Board and understanding how the school and education works please consider whether you would like to “come on board!”.

Uniform Shop

Our uniform shop is now open again in the school hall on Wednesdays 8:45 – 9:30, and 2:45 – 3:00. Please see Miss Henry in the office first for order forms and to make payments. Then Ms Victoria Sharp will fit and supply your items from the hall.

If you have any sellable uniform items please bring them to the school office washed, bagged and labelled with your name and contact details. You will also need to supply Miss Henry with your bank account details as we now pay by direct credit. If you require further information please contact Miss Henry in the office-09 425 6058

Labelling Uniforms

As you can appreciate when every uniform looks the same we have a hard time returning abandoned  items to their owners if they are not labelled. Can you PLEASE CLEARLY LABEL every item of your child’s uniform with their name, including hats and shoes. There are some iron on or sew on options out there which are better as they do not wear off or blur with washing. Miss Henry endeavors to return all items handed in at Lost property, but she cannot do so if they are not named. It is surprising the amounts of clothing that pile up over a term, especially sweatshirts. You all pay good money to purchase these, so naming them saves your pockets in replacing them again. Thank you 🙂

Parking

Parking before and after school is always an interesting event. Your help in making this a safe exercise would be very much appreciated. Our primary concern is to keep the students and adults in our school safe. To do this we need to have some health and safety rules.

  • In front of the office we have our bus bays. Please DO NOT park in these areas . We have 2 buses parking and leaving together and there is not enough room to cope with cars, buses and students at the same time
  • There is parking available in the visitor’s car park opposite the office, alongside the path down to the classes, along the drive past the hall and on the LHS of Dawson Road heading to Mahurangi East Road.
  • Please DO NOT park in the staff car park, especially as we often have trucks entering there, and it is an out of bounds area for students. We also have students crossing the entrance to that car park before and after school, and it is not patrolled and they are not expecting or looking for cars coming in and out.
  • Remember that even though Dawson Road has a high speed limit, it is mandatory to only do 40km per hour by the school and near the crossing. Please stop at the crossing when you see the signs out , or observe a large group of students waiting to cross. This also would be very much appreciated.
