Barfoot

Tena Kotou Katoa, Talofa, Greetings to our school families,

FROM THE BOARD CHAIR

Can anyone believe it is spring and we’re only seventeen weeks away from Christmas!  Too soon parents?  Not quite ready to put on Christmas carols?  Me too, there are some other things that also feel “too soon” in the life of our school.

Last week the Board regrettably accepted Jill Corkin’s resignation as Principal. Jill will be resigning at the end of the school year and the Board has implemented a recruitment process to find her replacement.

This is both a sad and exciting time for the school.  The board are sad to accept Jill’s resignation. The passion and leadership she has brought to her role has enabled the school and our staff to flourish and nourish in the garden of learning.  It is also an exciting time.  We are excited for Jill and her ability to help other parts of our community, and excited too to see the next steps our school will take to teaching our kids to feast upon knowledge and achieve their dreams.

The board and staff are organizing some formal acknowledgements of Jill’s contribution to the school, however, we also know that if you wish to personally thank Jill she would really appreciate that also.

If anyone has questions concerning the recruitment process or how this change may affect your child’s learning please feel free to email me at nathaniel.heslop@icloud.com.

Kind Regards,

Nathaniel Heslop

Board Of Trustees Chairman

Reminders for Parents & Caregivers

PLEASE do not park and leave your car in the bus drop off zone outside the office before or after school.  You are welcome to use it to drop students off, but please respect the fact that our buses come in at different times before school and need to be able to stop and park in the place designed for them.  After school, please respect the need for the buses to leave first at 3 pm.  You are welcome to use the bus bay after that to pick students up, but again please do not park and leave your car here. There is visitor parking opposite the office and to the left of the entry gate as you come in if you wish to come into the school office or speak to a teacher.  Thank you for your help with this to keep our buses moving and our children safe.

LOST PROPERTY.  Please help us by regularly checking that your children’s school uniform is named.  If an item of clothing is left lying in the playground or in the hall or library and it is named, we will make sure it gets back to its owner. If your child has lost his/her sweatshirt, please check first in the classroom AND in the adjacent classroom before checking in the sick bay where we collect items that are either unnamed or unclaimed. There are currently 7 unidentified sweatshirts in the office Lost Property Box.  All items left here at the end of the term will be donated to charity or recycled into our second hand uniform for sale.

The Great Snells Trail is Coming!  Saturday 14 November

Please note this date and set it aside for a fun day of events at school.  This is our one big fundraiser for the year and we hope all of our school families will get behind it and promote it to friends and neighbours.

There will be a Garage Sale Trail again like last year ad this will run from early -mid morning.  We are hoping to add an artists’ trail.

From 11am – 2pm there will be events at school – including the most amazing Art Exhibition ever!  The children’s art will be available for purchase – more on how this will work later.  There will also be performances by the children, food and other activities to enjoy.

Don’t miss it! Set the date aside now!
